Well - here's what I ended up making to go with the afghan.  I didn't have enough yarn to do a little baby sweater, but I think this works.

   Too adorable!  Just as pretty as the blanket and a perfect way to finish off the leftover yarns.  Bravo!  (BTW---I have a brand new baby grand-daughter......who loves being wrapped in pretty blankies....even in a heat wave....soooooo......    )
