Hello,
My name is Yvonne and I am from Newcastle in the UK. This forum is really my last hope as I have been trying to learn crochet for a few months now, and just cant do it. I love knitting, but crochet is really hard for me. Hope some of your members may help as I have read every book, seen videos and my friends have tried to teach me. All to no avail

Welcome! Just get us up to speed as to what you have mastered and we can give you a hand after that. Now just remember this, if you can chain and yarn over....you are well on your way. Carol Ann is right, relax and have fun. : )

Hi, Thankyou for all the lovely replies to my introductory post. The thing that is hindering me the most is holding the yarn in my left hand and putting it over the hook - it slips off and i feel as if i am all fingers and thumbs. Now if i hold the hook and the yarn in my right hand, I can control it better, but i dont think thats right. Well i am persevering, the correct way and am slowly getting there. Never a quitter, as they say

I know a lady on another forum who holds both yarn and hook in the same hand as she finds easier. I say go with what ever find easiest. I'm completely self taught and after watching a youtube video noticed I'm probably not doing it quite 'right' but hey, the end results are the same.
