Hello to everyone!
- I've been crocheting since I was 7, more than 40 years. I learned on steel hooks and thread and prefer those materials over the larger hooks and yarn, although I love doing both. I am having trouble finding non-doily thread patterns and am on an exploration to locate thread projects.
- I am a mother of 3: Marine son (2 tours of Iraq .... purple heart medal); Army daughter; and a daughter who just graduated high school.
- grandmother of 2. My 9 yr old granddaughter just expressed an interest in learning crochet, which excited me! her first lessons were last week.
- Married over 20 years to a guy who does stand up comedy on the side.
- At 51 years old, I enrolled in college to get my teaching degree (U.S. History).
- Recently retired from my own wedding cake and catering business, which gave me time to pick up my crochet hook again. I guess I had to divert my creativity somewhere! Here is my collection of photos of my wedding/birthday cakes and catering "art":

- I sell many of my crocheted items in a consignment shop where a portion of the sale benefits the Salvation Army, which really gives me a "feel good" feeling. My most requested piece is a crocheted American flag, that I designed (from a modified placemat pattern) while my son was in Iraq: (

- While I've been doing this for 40+ years, just in the past few weeks I've learned a few new techniques and stitches (just discovered filet crochet and LUV it!), and then stumbled upon this site and am excited about learning and sharing even more with others who love this craft like I do.
