Grin Grin Grin  I just have to pass this "news" along.  A young woman that works at the Dental Clinic that I go to asked me for some help / input with her crocheting.  She had been trying on her own for quite a while to learn and advance in the basic skills.  (She had seen my crochet and knitting projects when I was there for an appointment so she told me that she had to ask ME since there was no one else she knew who crocheted).  As a result of our little chat and my answering questions, showing her a few little quick things and offering encouragement and enthusiasm she has blossomed dramatically into a wonderful crocheter AND a knitter to boot!  In the 6 months since we visited she has 1) TAUGHT HER HUSBAND HOW TO CROCHET!  2) TAUGHT HER HUSBAND HOW TO KNIT!  (He loves doing both!!!) AND!!!  Her Husband is a school teacher and HE HAS TAUGHT ALL OF THE STUDENTS IN HIS CLASS HOW TO CROCHET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Girls AND Boys!!!  They all love it.  Most of the faculty members at the school have now learned to crochet --- and some that used to crochet have now begun doing it again.  When weather does not permit for outdoor recess, etc. the kids stay in and work on their crochet projects.  In several cases some youngsters have had a growth of self-esteem via their crocheting.  The teachers as a whole have witnessed a positive influence on the students --- better focus on tasks and calmer classroom behaviors and atmosphere.  i am just thrilled to learn of all of these facts.  Thought y'all might be pleased to hear about it, too.

Wow!  That is a great example of what you send out into the world multiplies.   Glad you are sending happy crochet vibes.  A little encouragement has spawned a whole group of new crocheters.

As a 52 year old college student who is working toward her teaching degree, I found this story so encouraging!

It's what I call our George Bailey moment.  George (from "It's a Wonderful Life") thought his life was a big waste.  Until Angel Clarence showed him how he impacted those around him.....some in big ways, some in small ways.

I think you scored a big George Bailey with this one!

Grin  Yes, Debi---I think so!  But as "proud" as it makes me feel I also find it very humbling.  Such a "little thing" can make such a big impact on another person's life.  How awesome it is---how we influence others...for better...and sadly sometimes for worse.  Such a responsibility.
