I'm out in the boonies, so i will have to travel 45 minutes to a michaels to get a few buttons!!! Oh well...I have a day or 2 off coming up in Sept. might as well make a day of it. Pick out a few patterns and get all the yarn I need while I'm there! That could be trouble.......any ideas on how I can conceal a bunch of yarn when I get home! Put it in grocery bags. and put celery or canned goods on top! Then maybe empty a kitchen cabinet and keep it there?

Put it in a kitchen cabinet where you normally keep the food that no one but you looks at, like the veggies or food that requires actually cooking or effort to make. If you put it next to the Oreo's and Chips someone is bound to find it.

:DYa'll are so funny - but seriously - I guess I"m just blessed - I have 3 Walmarts, 1 Hobby Lobby, 1 Michaels and 1 Joanns located within 20 min. of me - and Im still married (happily too)-haha! I haven't noticed an changes in any of the Walmarts - they seem to be the same all along - no downsizing or anything - maybe they have a lot of crafters shopping there or maybe they know there's alot of competition out there with all the other stores so close by.

Now that you have brought this to my attention, I have noticed that the one Super Walmart has moved things around, but still has a decent craft section, with buttons too. The other Super Walmart has a small craft section and no buttons and couldn't even find spools of thread. The third Walmart is not a super, but they are in the process of building a super right next to it and should be moving next month - currently they have a decent craft section, but no buttons. The fourth Walmart I haven't been to in a while since the other three are closer.
Plus I have an AC Moore, Michaels, Joanns and various independent yarn shops. All I can say is that I'm lucky when it comes to craft selection ;-) Sooner or later, I'm bound to find something I can work with.

Yeah, I think it'll be a "like it or lump it" situation since the men's toys around here costs oodles more than any of "my toys"...........

I just noticed this discussion re Walmart. I have 3 of them within 15-20 minutes from me. One of the Walmarts closed down the fabric and crafts dept. and enlarged their food section. Another one also remodeled and they have precut pieces of fabric in packages hanging on pegs. no more cutting from the bolts. I didn't notice any yarns or anything else. I was told the 3rd store still has their craft/yarn and fabrics. I have to check it out as I need some additional fabric for a sewing project I started.

I went to walmart just this week for some run of the mill white lydia's crochet thread and the yarn section was cut in half! I have been slowly noticing a reduction in the last 6 months, but now it is just a small section. What they do have is almost entirely red heart. Michaels has less now too and is such a mess. Joanns is best online. I wonder if betweent he economy and the trendy boom of making those fancy scarves is over if it just isn't enough demand now that it is mostly just "real" crocheters left.

AWK!!!!!!!!!!!! So tired of soaring prices. Searching for thread and yarn bargains used to be fun. Now it's frantic. I like Joann's but the shipping is so high.

I bought a 1 POUND ball of Aunt Lydia's #10 2 hobby lobby, marked @ 13.00, with the 40% of coupon came out to $8.00. I never use white, but think I will try my hand @ dying some stuff.
I have a HUGE stash of cotton yarn, Handicrafter and Sugar n Cream. Everytime it went on sale for $1 ball I bought some & I rarely use it. Make the odd washcloth or hot pad.
Glad I am stocked up on cotton. Until it level out I'll work form the stash, dye, or make something else.
Good news is bamboo yarn prices seem to be coming down & I LOVE bamboo.

No buttons? Thats weird! Well I used to buy lots of yarn, fabric, ribbon and lace at the closest Walmart where I used to live in Michigan, Then I moved to Arizona and theres no fabrics, just barely any yarn, no selection! They were nothing good, I did not buy anything, The only thing they had enough of was ribbon! I was so mad I have not been to Walmart ever since! I moved to another city since, I wonder if I should try at the one here... Oh I bought the loveliest buttons at Michaels! They are tiny and heart shaped. I have lots of colors too!
