Has anyone been watching Knit and Crochet Today?  We finally get it on our public broadcasting channels and the shows are pretty interesting.  The episode they just had featured the "founder" of Leisure arts. She talked about how her aunt tried teaching her from the age of 9 to 28 to crochet, but she just couldn't do it.  She ended up getting a job at a needle arts place (I forget which, coats and clarks I think) and had to learn to crochet, so she taught herself from a book.  Crochet ended up being her favorite needle craft (she knitted too) and wanted to expand into crocheting and Leisure Arts was born.  She also talked about some old crochet hooks she had acquired (she collects them) that had platinum and diamonds, and had never been used..she believed they were from  around 1850 or so........very interesting to listen to her talk....

I haven't with my work schedule.  Maybe over summer " break"...or maybe I can find the episodes online.  Can you imagine diamonds on a hook?  WIth the rate mine get misplaced or "borrowed" by little ones that would be a recipe for disaster!

Oh how I would have LOVED seeing it Bende and thanks for the rundown on what you saw and heard today.  We do not get it here and I am soooo bummed.  Couldn't get it back home either.  If there were any of those smileys available I would have used the one with crying eyes!  (SO what happened to those smileys anyway)HuhHuh?

My mom watches it, we don't get it here.  You can see some segments online, the one she had me watch online was an interview with an author (Debbie Macomber I think) & her love of knitting & how that developed into a series of novels around knitting. I haven't read them either, but I gather they were based in a yarn store & each book was the stroy of a particular character.  You can also buy a book of the patterns from the series I think, what the main character in each book makes in the course of the book I think, at least that is what I got from the interview.

It was interesting.  I'll have to see what is posted on this weeks episode, I want diamond hooks!

I haven't gotten to see it either.  I have to see if its here yet and if so, I have to record one to watch at a convenient time.  My schedule lately hasn't been too !@#()*&#@!()*&@%#)(*&!@#....what schedule....I never know what I'm doing one day to the next.... alot of OT lately......looks like it slowing down a bit till Valentines Day weekend.  Maybe I can get "what I call" my normal life back together.  What is normal?  Does anyone know?

I haven't figured out what "normal" is.   I don't think it's in the dictionary either.  If so, it's gotta be wrong.

I did by the way record that episode and I have two of the other ones scheduled to record; one this week and one next week.  Boy, can she crochet fast.  I'm sure some of you ladies could beat her record.

I'm looking forward to seeing the 2 new episodes.

Mrs. P., I dvr'd all the episodes also.  Looking forward to putting them on a disk for keeps.  Will be great to back on.  I do like the website too.  I'm going to take knitting classes again here real soon (haven't don that for about 19 years and really need help getting started again).  I printed out and thought about using their sampler afghan to learn all different kinds of stitching during my classes.

Oh, I envy your tv's! Just kidding, but anyway, we don't have our channels working or anything (ok, maybe dvd's). Maybe she'd give me a crochet hook, LOL!
