LOL, Pooh! My problem is that it relaxes me so much it is like a calgon bath that "carries me away" and I get so absorbed that I stay up way too late just hooking away.

That's right Carol Ann... just one more stitch, that's what I always say. Then before you know it, another hour has passed.

Ha! I can go either way. Sometimes I can crochet (or Knit) and will get so carried away I stay up way late, other times it can be the middle of the day, sun shining bright, not tired at all, and yet I get so relaxed I start to doze off!

Ditto here! I do the same thing every night. Lately, my project is hand sewing on patches for the Troop Leaders two sons new shirts for the big BS Jambo in Virginia. His wife does not sew, crochet or knit. She is so greatful that I'm doing this for her. The only problem that I'm having, which is the same as you, I get one patch started and only get about half way through and out goes the lights. Two-three hours later, I wake up with needle and thread and shirt still in hand. I hope I get them done before the Jambo....almost there. Have 3 shirts completed and half of the last one done.
But boy, do I know what you mean............

I'm beginning to think I'm getting rather sad... I've spent whole days crocheting (god help me if I've got nothing to do). I've started at 1... stopped to eat... and just carried on til 3 in the morning thinking "I'm nearly done!!! I can't stop now."
The other thing I noticed recently is that, as I've been making 48 little squares for a blanket, that when I know what I'm doing without reading the pattern... I can just zone out completely... and get that sort of feeling you get when you stand up too quickly. That all ends in tragedy of course because I zone back in realising I've done about 3 rounds completely wrong lol.

I love to crochet! A lot because it relaxes me, Crochet is like a drug for me! I get on it and forget I got any problems! But sometimes I start feeling to tired and want to go to bed! Also I like to crochet when Im feeling lazy! I just seat on my couch, crochet and watch a movie! I can feel lazy and be productive at the same time!!!

I too like the way crocheting has an positive effect on me. But for me, it's not quite relaxation but 'mind empyting' which I guess could be called a type of relaxation! When I crochet, I don't think about anything else but crocheting. Because either I'm counting or concentrating on making consistent stitches...I know some people can watch TV while crocheting. Not me. I can listen, but not watch. And like some others who have written -- the 'just one more stitch' is running thru my head too when crocheting in the evening. In fact, I try NOT to crochet before I go to bed cause no telling when I will stop. And considering how hard it is for me to fall asleep usually, crocheting at night is not the answer!

I work a graveyard shift at a hotel (11pm to 7am). It's when all of the hotel guests are checked in and sound asleep so after getting my nightly reports done, I usually have anywhwere from 2-4 hours of deadtime. So I can sit in the office and crochet away! Add to that, since I work an odd shift, I dont' have a "normal" sleep pattern, so it's normal for me to be awake at odd times .... with also going to college full time, sometimes I even go 24+ hours straight without sleep. Crocheting gives me something to do. And unlike watching TV or running the sweeper, it's quiet and doesn't disturb those in my house who DO have a normal sleep routine!
