Okay I tried it but something is missing in the instructions.  Like what do you do in the chain 6.  What I did do I got the peaks.  Did they tell you how to do a Cluster and how many to decrease?  Also I was doing the cluster in the chain 3 not in the top of the cluster.

If this is your first afghan, I think I would do a simple ripple first just to get the hang of it.

Maybe someone else knows.  Sorry that I can't help you.

There is definitely something wrong with this pattern.  The instructions for the Cluster are the same as the instructions for the decrease.  I saw the book in Michaels and read the instructions.

Go to www.crochetpatterncentral.com.  The first ripple pattern is a simple one.  You should be able to do this one.  There are lots of easy ripple patterns on the internet.  Just goggle easy crochet ripple afghans.

http://www.ravelry.com/projects/daisy1015/granny-ripple-afghan
Here is the link on ravelry
If you can't access it I will upload in photobucket.

You know I was thinking I was going to make a small ripple from scraps for my old dog of all things.  He keeps takin gownership of the afghans I am making...I think because they smell like me.  So I was going to give him one of his own LOL.  We could do the same project, just yours will be bigger.    I learned so much from my first afghan and I think I treasure it more than all the others!

I'll probably have to write it out as simply as I can so I can make sure I understand it. I get about half of it, just have to make sure I get it. I feel so stupid but I'm still learning. I just want to make one. lol.

you know, that is exactly what I did as a beginner.  I would write out everything long hand !  I got one of those books on how to make different stitches and would just practice new stitches and reading the pattern.  Dissecting it and writing it out long hand led to me being able to read pattern confidently very quickly.  You will get there!
