I am working on a fairly intricate afghan pattern, at least it has lots of components that must line up perfectly and now that I am close to done there were two MAJOR misprints. I think I have it figured out now but boy it is extra time doing so, not to mention stress. Who wants to scrap a lengthy project towards the end?! OR even redo and redo components? Grr! It wouldn't be as "advanced" as they labeled it if they wrote the pattern right! LOL

Some mistakes are easy to pick up on, like when it repeats itself one too many times or the ** for repeats are in the wrong place.
My biggest peev is when you following the instructions for a row/round to the letter & they made sense, but the next row/round (or sometimes several later) you discover it was wrong because it tells you to crochet in next 4 chain spaces & there are only 2, or crochet in the next 3 stitches & there are 10!!

Errors are not necessary when there are so many people out there willing to test patterns. It's an insult to the consumer

That's true...I've one time tried to make a blanket and it wasn't so good. But I somehow made a pillow case and I didn't tell anyone what it was! So no one was insulted and it was a pretty awesome project. (even though I have to make a new one )

Oh No! I'm sorry that happened! I hope you were able to fix it! At least in the end it will make up for it right? well maybe, HA I hope so anyway! What are you working on right now? Well at least I know I wasn't the only one who had a dumb pattern.

Yeah, I attatched it to a pillow. It's living as a pillow case, although I hope I can make a more real pillow case though. I'm working on a new afghan now to make up for the mishap. Of course, that was a cool save. As soon as I get my digi to work, I'll take a picture and post it!

I just finished an amigurumi pattern of of a dog for a swap. I cut the pattern from an old magazine years ago. It said to crochet the brow (or what I would call an eyelid) 6". Well, if I did, it have gone down his face and part-way down his body. I made it 3 " and it was still too long so I made it about 2 1/4" and now it seems about right. Also the shaping of the top of the head made it look like he had a silo on his head. After it was all stuffed and put together, I ripped out the top a few rows and adjusted it. It looks much better now.

If your pattern is in a book then you can e-mail the publisher and ask for all corrections in the book. I did this with a Leisure Arts book and they e-mailed me back corrections for all the patterns in the book! Almost every pattern had a correction!

It was from an old magazine. Unfortunately I didn't save the name of the magazine or the designer's name. It was one of those newspaper type of magazines. You know how they always say cont'd on pg #XX, well I cut out all the pages referring to the pattern and pasted it on a standard size sheet of paper and put it in a plastic sheet protector. That's how I store all my patterns, regardless of where I get them from, and then I have binders with different categories where I keep all my patterns.

Oh thats too bad. If you had the neame of the designer then you could possibly get the corrections.
You keep your patterns like I do. I have all my crochet books on the shelf and all loose patterns such as ones I have found on the internet and printed out in a big binder in sheet protectors. They are divided in catagories.
