This info link SHOULD BE in the tutorials and how-to's BUT the server / host will not re-direct that page properly so I am putting it here for now.  This is the best description I have seen so far as to how to block acrylic yarns.  http://beadknitterpatterns.blogspot.com/2009/11/how-to-block-acrylic.html

Fabulous find! I never thought to pass this info on....having over blocked items in the past, I had to learn the hard way. Thanks Carol. : )

I'm primarily a thread-crochet person, with some yarn-afghans under my belt so I have never blocked anything in the 40+ years I've been a crocheter.  but I'm in the middle of making my first wearable crocheted item (a jacket) so I have been researching this "blocking" thing I've heard about.  Those photos in the link .... the before and after blocking .... are the greatest and really show a newbie like me what a difference it makes!  Thanks for posting!

Grin  Glad to know it might be helpful info for you, Debi.  Most of my work these past few years has been with cotton (finest of threads up to WW) so I have done plenty of blocking.    Much easier with cotton or wool or natural fibers but perhaps this tutorial will make things easier and more pleasant than anything I have seen in the past for blocking acrylic yarn.  I hope so.
