CORTICELLI!

« on: June 02, 2010, 04:18:12 PM »

There are moments I REALLY appreciate my husband's "tolerance" of my needlework addictions.  He always is helpful when I need some little thing done to aid my endeavors.  Making me a new blocking board or helping ball yarn and such things as that he does with a quiet patience.  Today was one of those days I asked for something a bit more involved and he smiled, put his thinking cap on and in nothing flat he was my hero once again.  I am painting another doily and had to wrap numerous spools or bobbins with those fine sewing threads in order not to spend the $$$ on 3 new spools of each color.  Much more economical to buy a large spool and tranfer to several other spools.  WELL!  No extra empty spools on hand and not enough sewing machine bobbins---and couldn't find any new bobbins to fit my machine --- SO VOILA ! Handy husband made me a dozen beautiful little wooden spools from a piece of dowel in the blink of an eye.  Hmmmm... now to measure off 3 equal lengths Of thread from the large spool and transfer / wrap on the little wooden spools.  Hand wrapping ----nooooooo thank you.  Once again my hero is in motion---pacing off the required many yards (of thread needed for each spool) down the long driveway (!!!!!!!)  Out comes the drill motor... it is attached to end of wooden spool... large spool is fastened at other end of driveway... and hum, hum, hum of motor produces a perfectly wrapped 2nd (and then 3rd) spool of same color and equal length.  This was repeated numerous times until he had all of my colors (3 spools each) lined up neatly on the garden bench.  Now I ask you---is that a nice guy or what!?  Grin  Cheesy

OMG!  Yes, give mine some lessons.  Mine is creative, loves a challenge but once work is done, he's done....most of the time.  Very creative.  You've got yourself a winner there.  He's a keeper!
 Love it!

Cheesy Grin Cheesy  Glad you enjoyed the story Ladies.  Sure, Gals, he could give lessons but he would probably call the curriculum "Crochet Widower 101" and suggest the only way to be successful is to play along, smile, nod sympathetically now and then & keep quiet (unless requested to participate ---and then it is strongly advised to say or do something of value  Wink  Cheesy) and most of all DO NOT start to speak about ANYTHING when the obcessive compulsive possessed person is counting stitches! Roll Eyes Cheesy  My Guy has learned how to endure and "be helpful when necessary" by virtue of having been a captive in the realm of a needlework addict for over 40 years.  I remind him that I was needleworking long before I met him so he actually has "had it easy".   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Cheesy Thanks, Maria.  Actually he IS quite a handy and creative guy in his own right and I do bide my time to ask crafty favors when he is immersed in his own crafts and hobbies.  Wink
