http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/one-skein-summer-wrap

That's the project that I'm working on, er trying to. I'm confused on the pattern, on what the stitches do. When I  make the V stitch is it in on stitch or next to each other?

Can someone clear up the pattern up for me please? sorry to be a pain but thank you... just row 1 and row 2 please?

Thank you

oh what a pretty wrap!  The V-stitch is performed all in one stitch---in the stitch indicated where they want you to make a V- stitch.  Have you looked up any tutorial info on making a V-stitch?  Be right back with a link for you......  here is one tutorial for basic V-stitch.  do the V-stitch following your specific pattern directions for spacing and skipping, etc. http://crochet.about.com/library/bl_doll_blanket.htm

This is still super confusing to me. I really love the wrap and really want to do it but I don't understand it. I don't know if it's me or just that maybe b/c I've never done a pattern like this...

sorry

Ok---are you starting your work with the Foundation Single Crochet (FSC) OR with just a regular starting chain?  You can use either one of the methods to start.  Is it the FSC that is confusing you right from the start?  If so, maybe you can just practice doing that at another time and go ahead with the regular chain (chain 49 chains) so as to move along and get the wrap done.  Row 1 then simply starts with a V-stitch in the 4th chain from the hook and then you proceed with the making or skipping of chains / stitches as row 1 info instructs you to do.  DID you accomplish the V-stitch successfully after reading / viewing the tutorials?  Tell me exactly (quote the directions in the pattern) where you are getting confused and I'll work a swatch to compare with your's (via pics).  p.s. remember that the V-Stitch (dc, chain 1, dc) is done all in one stitch or chain---which ever next stitch or chain that is indicated in the pattern.  Row 2 is pretty straight forward and easy to interpret if you have gotten through row 1.  Wink

I pretty much get confused of the single stitch and just  trying to see how that looks b/c when I do it, it doesn't look right.

doesn't help I can't zoom much in the pattern so I can't visually see a up close if I'm doing it right

Sorry this week has been horrid

got fired, two family deaths, laptop won't turn on and  I'm sick...fun at least my parents came to see me

Sad  Sad  Sad Oh dear!  I am so so sorry to hear of all of the traumas in your life this week.  I hope you feel better soon.   Kiss  Now as for the confusion with the "single stitch":  does that mean you are confused with making a single crochet?  If so, are you able to make the double crochet?  If you are talking about making the FOUNDATION SINGLE CROCHET CHAIN & STITCH all in one then my advice is to NOT start your work with that method.  ***Use the regular chaining method instead***.  Learn the foundation method another time.  It takes some practice and time and it is best if you can refer visually to some step-by-step photos or replay a video tutorial.  The wrap is very easy to make and will move along quickly and you will have it to use as well as you will  feel more successful!  Wink

make your starting chain with: chain 49, then (dc, ch1, dc) in the 4th chain from the hook...which is the beginning of your row 1.  then continue on across the starting chain by following the directions that are written for row 1:  Sk next 2 chs or sts, sc in next ch or st, *ch 3, sk next 3 chs or sts, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch or st (V-st made), sk next 2 chs or sts, sc in next ch or st; repeat from * across to the end of the starting chain, turn to begin row 2.    At the end of row 1 you will have made a total of 7 sc, 7 V-sts, and 7 ch-3 sps.  Also remember that row 1 is the "right side" of your work which means everytime you are working on an odd numbered row you are looking at the right side of the work ---which will be the side that you would wear showing outward.  Row 1 includes more chains (chain 3's) and skipping stitches in order to make those lovely lacey holes.  Row 1 (which is created on the foundation chain) establishes or sets up your pattern of stitches so that when you do row 2 - row 90 and all following rows you are just expanding the pattern.  When you turn your work to begin row 2 and each time you turn your work to begin a new row remember to chain 3 before you make the beginning V-Stitch in the first sc.

The picture is a bit dark and with the dark yarn it is a little hard to see the stitches and developing pattern real clear but it looks like it is shaping up in the right direction.  Grin  When you have more rows done and can take a pic in better light and kind of spread the work out a little more I would love to see it.  If you are comfortable with what you are doing and how it is looking I think it will simply fly along now and be done before you know it.  BTW---you are a knitter?!? Shocked  Why aren't you on the Knit Happy Forum!? Wink

Here is the link to the home page index for Knit Happy Forum.  Grin  http://www.knit-happy-forum.com/
I haven't set up anything on Ravelry yet but I am a member.  It was amusing to be able to join  (this last winter) in what took not more than 3 minutes!  I remember "everyone" waiting and waiting for days and weeks and months to be the next one accepted for membership.  I figured I would just wait until ...whenever...because I was so busy and on the other Forums anyway.
You are welcome for the help---and I am glad it WAS a help.  Reading patterns can be confusing to even the most experienced person and for me it is usually the easiest patterns that confuse me the most!   Roll Eyes
