Everytime a pattern asks for a repeat of trebles... my 3ch at the start of the rows cause a noticable gap. Nothing I do seems to make any difference. It's probably not that noticable but I can see it and it's starting to bug me.
Any suggestions?

The more chains you need to make for the beginning of a row the more it will look like a larger space / gap.  The nature of the beast, I guess.  Sounds normal but if you have a pic maybe we can see what is happening with the stitches and uniformity of space between the stitches...and how the edges look, row by row.  A treble makes a large stitch so naturally there will be a larger space between the stitches as compared to say a single or half double crochet.

maybe you can include the instructions for the beginning of eah row as well.  The chaining to turn and the next stitch you make after chaining and turning.  Is the chain 3 to turn supposed to be the first stitch of the next row?

Usually when you start a new row with ch 3 that is supposed to represent your 1st dc stitch.  If you get that gap then try doing 2 ch instead of 3.  The same holds true that for the 1st tr on a new row, you ch4, but if you get that gap then try doing a ch3 instead.
