Hi, I am trying a new crochet pattern which calls for using a double strand of the yarn.  when I go to crochet into the single crochet stitch in the row below, does my hook pass under 2 strands of the "v" (one on each side of v) or under all 4 strands of the "v" (two on each side of v)?  Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

when crocheting with a double strand of yarn, and unless otherwise instructed, you will always crochet through all of the strands.

It's a winter hat I copied down from some place I no longer remember ( like 35 years ago). I am trying to adapt it to make for my 8 year old grandniece. I think I must have made a hat from the pattern back then, but don't remember ever even thinking about where to place the hook for the building stitches you make in the round. As it is I am guessing at the size--my pattern is for an adult with no gauge mentioned. I would be happy to make a different pattern, but have been having trouble finding a child's cap ( like a watch cap with a cuff) in a simple pattern.

Thanks again for your help,
