Help with pattern

ch 151
Row 1 (RS) Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across - 150 hdc; turn. Fasten off.

I understand that the ch #151 it is ch 1 for the row 1,  Am I suppost to skip ch 2 or do sc on ch2 then do Hdc in 3rd ch?

Whatcha makin'? Starting in the 3rd chain from the hook makes sense in a pattern using a hdch but ladies wouldn't you then be working on 149 stitches? Maybe I'm looking wrong or my coffee hasn't kicked in ......

You start out chaining 151, then the next thing you do is hdc in third chain from hook.  Then after that you will hdc in every chain till the end.  You will have 150 chains at the end of the row., cause you have already skipped a chain at the beginning.

Just remember to count your stitches, to make sure you have 150 chains.
