Hi whitesatin, I'm doing the blanket. I figured out that the wool is the most important thing to obtain this soft effect. The original was 100% acrilic, I chose a 70% wool  30% mohair. (working with hook 3mm)

The pattern is really easy in the end:
start with 5 chains and close in a circle
3 chains, * 4 elongated double crochet (you need to elongate the yarn when you pull it out the first time, then continue normally as double crochet), 1chain * repeat from * to * 4 times and close the circle.
3 chains, (turn) *13 elongated double stitch in tho "hole" created by the chain of the previous row* repeat 4 times and close.

You need to do a lot of these granny squares (in the original blanket there were 247, I'm doing 150 approx.), and join them taking up that part of 13 elongated dc and sew them together. Then you sew at the corner of 4 and put a bead/pearl in this corner.
It's better if you join the granny squares one on the right side, the other one in the wrong side because it creates the "wave" effect. I don't know how to explain, but if you try you will certainly figure out!!

Hi Maria,

I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, I have attached a couple of photo's, when I make the first row, there is 4 like puffs, but when I join to top of chain, it makes it kind of go a bit like a funnel at the back, almost causing the puffs to poke up. Then there's a picture of the second row, what I do is yo. go through loop, then pull the yarn up, then go through 2 loops so I'm left with 1 loop on my hook, then I do the same process untill there are 4 hoops on my hook, then I pull through all 4. I really hope what I'm saying makes sense, lol.

This one is a close up of how the back of the first row looks. As you can see it looks like a funnel. :s

And this one is how the hook looks after 4 elongated double crochet.... Is this how yours looks??

This is how it looks after I've finished both rows...This is the top not the underneath of the motif..

whitesatin you don't have to do puffs!!

In the first row (and again in the second row) you need to do simply double crochet, i.e.:
yo, go through loop, yo, pull yarn up, go through 2 loops, yo, go through all loops

It's a double crochet, you only have to pull up the yarn the first time you go through the 2 loops  Wink

wow!!!! It looks really perfect, you work very regular!! (my granny squares are one different from the other!!! Some of them big, some little, even in the same granny squares the four "petals" are of different height!!)

It's correct, you DON'T have to do any chain in the second row between petals!

By the way, what yarn are you using? Looks like a very soft one! (I'll post pics of my blanket when I'll finish it, but you'll see that the yarn doesn't "fill" all the holes between stitches, it seems like there is some "loosen" work I don't know how to explain!)

YAAAYYYYY!!! Cheesy

Thank you, Smiley

I'm just using a dk yarn, it's soft to the touch, like you said I think the pattern works better on a more fuller yarn. Be great to see your work! Smiley
