Thanks Debs...I'm gonna try that nail varnish tip. My ends have a terrible habit of coming undone lol.

What I do is cut a little square piece of a patch (for like jeans, I just try to match the color of patch with the color of the crocheted piece) and put it on the back side of the crocheted piece and sew through it and then through the crocheted part it holds the button on real well and the thread doesn't get pulled through either.

LV's method is what I do also, for knit or crochet pieces and also fine / thin / delicate fabrics when I sew things.  Also a small piece of interfacing works well when cut the same size of the button (well...a little larger than the button or snap) and placed between the button back and the fabric.  Dental floss and fish line are marvelously strong "threads" to use and dental floss has always been suggested especially for sewing buttons on baby / kid items. They seem to be holding on strong so far ladies. Just hope the two little ones don't pull them off when they eventually come.

That is a great idea...I've never done it before but will in future  Grin

If you use dryer sheets, save one after using and cut a square about 1/4" x 1/4" inch or 1/2" x 1/2" square and use that.  Its clear and will dry quickly.

I guess that's why all my sweaters had a grosgrain ribbon on the button placard when I was young.
