I started making a zigzag pattern baby shawl... modified from a pattern I found online. Problem is it's turned out to be as wide as a double bed! I'd continue the pattern if I had the time but I need to do two shawls by Christmas. Is there anything I can do to change it so it's narrower?
Btw I've missed you guys! xxx

what kind of modifications did you do?  Are you using the same yarn and needle as indicated in the pattern?  I made some hats that I had to make 3 of them, using different size needles, before I got the size right due to the type of yarn I wanted to use.

In order for anyone to help you, you would have to show us the link to the pattern you used.  You say you modified it...what exactly were your modifications?  Is it that you just wanted to use the pattern stitch?  If that is the case then You would have to figure out the multiple of stitches needed to make the pattern and the size you want to make the shawl.  Divide the size of the shawl by the amount of the multiple to get how many stitches you would need.  IE: the pattern uses a multiple of 10 stitches plus 1 and each 10 stitches is 5 inches.  If you want your shawl to be 20 inches wide you would need 4 multiples of 10 would equal 40 stitches = 1 or a total of 41 stitches.  I hope this helps.  If not then reply with a link to the pattern and the size you want your shawl to be and perhaps we could help you.
