This is a special request from one of my best friends. He loved my Sasuke and Naruto amis so much that he practically begged for a Shikamaru ami. I'm working on him right now at work. He is a ninja who manipulates shadows, so I am thinking of making a few different interchangeable shadow designs in felt that can be velcroed to his feet. Hope he comes out as well as the others.

He is being modeled after this guy:

For the mesh areas, I bought black crochet thread, and I am going to put it together with the beige. Do you think that will work? Any other tips for making the mesh?

Thanks!

Aren't "Ami's" fun!?  this one is looking good and will be just perfect when you finish it---and with all of your ideas.  The mesh:  If that is regular yarn you are using for the body I might suggest making the thread mesh separately and putting it  on over the top of the yarn legs.  Crocheting yarn and thread together usually ends up with the thread getting lost in the heavier yarn and you may not get the mesh look you want.
