I recently purchased Caron One Pound Yarn thru Knitting-Warehouse.  When the yarn arrived one of the three skeins of Cream was defective.  I sent Caron an email and told them that one skein of the yarn was defective.  In this skein a good bit of the yarn in first half of the skein was much thinner than the rest of the skein.  They answered me back and said they would send me another skein free of charge.  Well to my surprise, this afternoon I received a box from Caron yarn and it contained 3 skeins of the one pounder.  What a wonderful surprise -- I certainly didn't expect this.   They didn't have to do anything and it shows that a company can make its customers happy.  Great public relations job.

Knitting-Warehouse said I could return the defective skein for a credit but the cost of shipping it back would have probably been as much as the cost of the skein, so I wasn't planning on returning it but just wanted to let them know of the problem.

Well, I think that is great!  I will probably be doing my yarn purchasing there as I didn't have a good experience at Smiley's.  As good as the prices are at smileys, their customer service is not up to parr. I won't do business there anymore...so next time, I will try the knitting warehouse!  Thanks for posting your experience!

I'm impressed!  Consumer comments DO work sometimes and the Caron Company obviously values their customers and takes pride in their product----- and in doing GOOD business.  I wish I had let Lion Brand yarns know how terrible several of my skeins of Homespun were.  (Not that I would expect freebies but simply because I like the yarn and would enjoy using more of it if not for so many defects).  I thought of notifying them but simply returned my skeins to the store where purchased for a no hassle refund.  Thanks for the reminder that the customer DOES still count in some manufacturer's minds!  I love Caron and I love it / them more now! That is great information to know.  If I ever need to order yarn I'll know where to order from.  I love Caron Simply soft yarn.
