Can i ask what type of wool you are using? I am using 4ply and it just seems flimsy. Sad Would it be ok to double it up?

Just standard 4-ply.  I think most of the gals have used the #4 worsted weight yarn, but am not sure if all have.  The pattern is a very open and lacy one so it is going to feel "soft" or lightweight /"flimsy" to a degree.  If you want a more substantial / heavier blanket you could try doubling and see how you like the weight and look of it.  It is actually a baby blanket as I recall and some of those are intended to be light and lacy /delicate.  I standardly use either Redheart or Caron brands 4-ply acrylic (and sportweight for babies).  I think it is probably your preference for the desired end result.  (Can you  post of a pic of your work in progress? Smiley)  Don't forget that bordering the strips and edge will firm it up!

I started mine in Caron Simply Soft and thought it was a bit light. I ended up using good old baby yarn and it was fine. Nice thing about this pattern is it excepts ANY yarn and any hook. Once you work the border around each panel it will "firm" up.

i agree with carol ann its never too late to join in and it is a quick pattern to do
i used a fairly thick yarn for mine and they also turned out well (soft and lacy or firm and cosy matter of preference)
so use which ever yarn you have and you will love it i'm sure
cant wait to see pics

Thank you ladies. Will keep on using the wool I'm using. It is baby wool. It might start to feel a lot better when i start adding the boarders like you said.

Thanks for the replies. Smiley
