Call me crazy but it looks very much like a puff stitch scrubbie I made a few years ago. I made mine with WW cotton on one side and nylon yarn on the other side. Prettiest and nicest pattern I have seen for a scrubbie. Love mine.

could be carol ann but there is no nylon yarn/thread in the pattern although it is 4ply ww and g hook no matter i will be using it as a coaster right here by my pc

Alright, I sent it. When you said your first attempt looked like a doll bonnet...................it should have. This is a pattern for a lid grabber. LOL! I searched a LONG time for a true mystery! I'm off to look for the original pattern. I'll post it when I find it.
