Hello! I used a cotton yarn for the teddy bear, since I thought that would be more appropriate for a newborn gift. Also, I embroidered the face markings (actually one of the hardest things for me to do). In order to sew the parts together, I separated the 4-ply yarn I was using and sewed it with 2-ply. Thank you for your advice about the mattress stitch - the "how to" books simply show two flat pieces sewed together - which can be a little intimidating when you are new at crocheting rounded and curved pieces. Thanks for your advice.

wow your bear is adorable, his face is so cute.
I am just hopeless at sewing so my sewn faces can look quite scary!
Never heard of using dental floss what an amazing idea!
