Here is Anna's Easter BAsket,,,, I think I might try and add more startch to make it stand on its own w/o the tupperware.... Nataha was a lil jealous so I asked her to model the basket for me.

Carol Ann, You think i should line the basket with fabric and sew it in. Then Starch it?

Mare---I will try to answer without causing confusion. I do think a pretty sewn in fabric lining would be a wonderful finishing touch. If you really want the basket to stand up and look nicely and firmly basket shaped then you would still need a solid liner to achieve that particular goal. You said you used a tupperware bowl to show off the shape in the picture. Off the top of my head I am thinking of for instance one of those clear plastic plant pot liners like you find in a nursery or other stores that supply garden & planting goodies. You would maintain the shape, and have a removal "bowl" when you want to launder the basket. Looks like you used regular yarn to make the basket( not a light weight cotton thread). Right? I don't think starching will be very effective on that yarn and even if it is---if you have to wash it you will loose the firmness and have to re-starch each time. I am just assuming that you WILL have to wash the basket because of Anna's age and the potential for wanting to play with it and drag it around. LOL. If trying to heavily starch the basket I would sew in the lining first and then starch and shape for drying. Does any of this help answer the question(s)?

good advice! Would not want you to be disappointed with the results of starching your beautiful basket!
